Salvia lavandulaefolia (Spanish Sage) has a clean, herbaceous, camphoraceous aroma.  The oil is obtained via steam distillation of the flowering tops.  Sage is a top note that assists in enhancing cognitive performance, with the effect comparable to the caffeine found in tea and coffee.  It has antiseptic, antidepressant and anti-inflammatory properties.  It soothes the skin, assists to alleviate respiratory issues, is used to relieve cramps and is very calming.  It also lowers blood pressure and inhibits sweating.  Sage blends will with bergamot, lavender, geranium, lime, melissa, rose and jasmine.  Exposure to sage should be avoided during pregnancy and when breastfeeding.
