East Indian sandalwood oil, Santalum album is obtained via steam distillation of the heartwood chips.  The volatile oil has a honey, syrupy, sweet, woody floral aroma.  This oil is indicated for use as a decongestant for the lymph and venous system, and as a heart tonic.  It may also act as an aphrodisiac when blended with jasmine or rose.

Although is it good for use in perfumes, massage blends and for all types of skin care, it may also be inhaled to relieve nervous tension and as a sedative.  It may also be used in meditation to open the third eye.  East Indian sandalwood oil should not be used internally as its constituents have been shown to irritate the kidneys and gastrointestinal tract. 

Note: A GC-MS report is available for this oil to verify its authenticity. Santalum album is recognised as a vulnerable species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and is threatened due to over exploitation.  For this reason we recommend you use this oil sparingly.
